FEAR VERSUS CREATIVITY

Hang-ups about creativity can reach far back into our childhood: parents, teachers and social pressures can all too easily squelch a child’s imagination which is now your imagination and your creativity. Fear is in the way.

We adopt a self-definition that excludes even the possibility that we are creative. I believe that everyone (and I mean everyone) is creative. Sometimes they see themselves as too rational, or too practical, to be creative and they might say things like, “I don’t have a creative bone in my body.”

Our ‘creative self’ trusts the process and is not stuck on the outcome. With uncertainty, curiosity, stumbling one foot after the other led by our inner voice we can create our own unique pathway of imagination.

We find wonder and beauty, new ideas and images everywhere as we allow our intuition to guide us. It is that hunch, that feeling, that inner urge that whispers to us to try. TRY! Just give it a try.

Creativity thrives on uncertainty. We cannot truly know the outcome of our creative endeavours because the end-product is often far more than what we had planned…it is better, bigger, takes us further, stretches us and could be beyond the limits of ‘control’. (that can be scary) Following your creative self takes you to amazing places!
